Why Dragon Boat?

Dragon boat racing is believed to have originated in China more than 2,000 years ago.

Originally, the dragon boat was used as a way to appease the rain gods for religious purposes, now it has become one of the fastest-growing water sports in the world. 

Dragon boat racing is popular for its fitness benefits and exciting racing, it is much loved for the camaraderie, teamwork and community. Dragon Boat racing is the ultimate team sport with 22 people of various ages and backgrounds coming together in synergy to make the boat fly!

What to Bring?

We would recommend you to wear and bring:

  • Sports gear and shoes that can get wet
  • A change of clothes
  • Towel
  • Water bottle
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses and a sports cap or beanie (be sun smart 😎)

We will provide you:

  • Paddle, and
  • PFD (Personal Floatation Device)

Club Training

Yarra River Dragons train two times a week

Our training times are:

  • Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 pm*
  • Saturday from 8:30 - 10:00 am

*Starting from October as we moving into the race season

Where Are You Located?

We are located at the Community Boating Hub @ the Dock at 912 Collins Street, Docklands, VIC 3008.

Jump on Route 11 or 48 Tram, we are a 2-minute walk away from the last tram stop (Stop D18 - Victoria Harbor Docklands) 🚋

There is parking available around the Hub or at the Woolworths car park (Seafarers Lane via Bourke Street).
